Porter Pictures Closes Worldwide Distribution Deal with Discovery Communications
For Immediate Release:
Jeff Porter, the President and CEO of Porter Pictures has closed another worldwide distribution deal! This deal is especially beneficial for Porter Pictures’ clients, as Discovery Communications is the world’s #1 pay-TV programmer reaching 2.7 billion cumulative subscribers in more than 220 countries and territories.
One of Porter Picture’s proudest placements was the harrowing documentary on human trafficking, the sexist and racist apartheid-like “caste systems”of the Third World, and the sexual exploitation of children in the third world, UNTOUCHABLE: CHILDREN OF GOD. Directed by young globe-trotting filmmaker Grant Knisely - at considerable risk to himself - the film tells a story both tragic and inspiring, featuring stories of girls who managed, against all obstacles, to find their way out from sexual slavery into education and freedom.
Discovery is dedicated to satisfying curiosity, engaging and entertaining viewers with high-quality content on worldwide television networks, led by Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery and Science, as well as U.S. joint venture network OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. Discovery also controls Eurosport International, a premier sports entertainment group, including six pay-TV network brands across Europe and Asia. Discovery also is a leading provider of educational products and services to schools, including an award-winning series of K-12 digital textbooks, through Discovery Education, and a digital leader with a diversified online portfolio, including Discovery Digital Networks.
“We have aligned a great program with Discovery and believe that not only were they the best home for this films but with their large international presence will also allow our programs to see a much larger world appeal,” says Porter Pictures’ Acquisitions Executive Telly Davidson.
